Lake Lanier, Georgia

In 1996, Lake Lanier was host of
the Olympic Games rowing competition. Lake Lanier is world famous for
fishing and sailing. Aqualand Marina is the largest inland marina in
the world. Water skiing and jet skiing are popular activities on the
lake.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages the shoreline of Lake Lanier to preserve and protect the lake’s environment and at the same time provides a balanced use of the lakeshore. The corps operates 46 parks around the lake for boat launching, picnics, hiking and swimming.
Lake Lanier Islands is a 1,200 acre resort with campgrounds, an
equestrian center and a breath taking lakeside golf course. The Legacy
Lodge offers hotel rooms, suites and lakeside villas. The main
attraction of the resort is the Lake Lanier Islands Beach and Waterpark
where you can find waterslides, a wave pool, a beach, sand volleyball
courts, paddle boats, miniature golf and restaurants.
